Kingfisher  : Kingfishers, a very famous bird among armatures when they start identifying birds around water habitats, they have large heads, long pointed beak (bill), short legs and reason they cannot walk. This colourful bright plumage bird are identical in sexes. As name suggests, they are king of fishing and are delight to watch while hunt. They also have an unique capability to swallow their catch during flight.

White throated ones are found almost across India are the most visible of the species followed with Common and Pied Kingfisher who are also found around forest marshes all over India but not so common around human settlements.

Pied kingfisher is among one of the hovering birds [birds who can fly without any lateral movement or to stay at one place in flight].

Though fishes are the main diet of the kingfishers, they also eats many aquatic insects like dragonfly, tadpoles, water beetles etc.

They are mostly resident and do very small migrations based on geographical conditions suitable for food.
